Acceptable Use Policy

1. Introduction and Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out the rules and standards that govern your use of the MeasureDeck platform, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This AUP supplements our Terms of Service and forms part of the binding agreement between you and MeasureDeck Ltd.
MeasureDeck is a professional tool designed for use by construction quantity surveyors, commercial managers, and related professionals. We rely on all users to use the Services responsibly, lawfully, and with respect for other users, third parties, and our platform infrastructure.

2. Prohibited Activities
2.1 Unlawful and Harmful Conduct
You must not use the Services to:
- Engage in any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations, including UK law, data protection law, or the laws of the jurisdiction in which you operate;
- Commit or facilitate fraud, misrepresentation, identity theft, or financial crime;
- Process or store data that relates to criminal activity or that could be used to facilitate criminal acts;
- Violate any contractual obligations you have with third parties, including confidentiality obligations arising from employment or professional contracts;
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or engage in any form of abusive conduct towards MeasureDeck staff, other users, or third parties;
- Discriminate against or harass individuals on the basis of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.
2.2 Security and Technical Misuse
You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Services, to other users' accounts or data, or to computer systems or networks connected to the Services;
- Conduct or facilitate penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, or security testing of the Services without MeasureDeck's prior written consent;
- Upload, transmit, or distribute viruses, malware, ransomware, spyware, or any other harmful or malicious code;
- Conduct denial-of-service (DoS or DDoS) attacks or any form of attack intended to disrupt or degrade the Services;
- Use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or similar tools to access or interact with the Services except as expressly permitted by our API terms;
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security, authentication, or access control mechanisms in the Services;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code or underlying algorithms of the Services;
- Use the Services in a way that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure or impairs other users' access.
2.3 Data and Privacy Violations
You must not:
- Upload or process personal data through the Services in violation of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, or other applicable data protection laws;
- Upload personal data of third parties without a lawful basis for doing so or without the appropriate consents or disclosures to those individuals;
- Use the Services to conduct unlawful surveillance, monitoring, or profiling of individuals;
- Use data obtained from the Services about third parties for any purpose other than legitimate commercial management activities;
- Share, transfer, or sell data extracted from the Services (including data about other organisations' projects or commercial positions) without authorisation.
2.4 Intellectual Property
You must not:
- Upload or transmit content that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party, including copyright, trade marks, patents, or design rights;
- Use the MeasureDeck name, logo, or branding in any way that suggests an endorsement or affiliation without our prior written consent;
- Create derivative works based on the Services or any part of them without our express permission;
- Remove or obscure any proprietary notices, copyright notices, or trade marks displayed in or on the Services.
2.5 Misuse of the AI Copilot
In relation to the AI Copilot feature specifically, you must not:
- Attempt to extract, reproduce, or distribute AI model weights, training data, or system prompts;
- Use the AI Copilot to generate content that is misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, or intended to harm third parties;
- Rely on AI Copilot outputs as a substitute for qualified professional or legal advice without independent review;
- Input sensitive personal data of third parties (e.g. full names with financial details) into the AI Copilot without appropriate data protection justification;
- Attempt to “jailbreak,” manipulate, or circumvent the content and safety filters applied to the AI Copilot.
2.6 Commercial and Competitive Misuse
You must not:
- Use the Services to benchmark, evaluate, or reverse-engineer MeasureDeck's own product or commercially sensitive information for the benefit of a competitor;
- Access the Services for the purpose of building a competing product or service;
- Share your account credentials with employees of competing organisations;
- Resell or sublicense access to the Services without MeasureDeck's prior written consent.
3. Content Standards
Any content you upload to MeasureDeck — including project data, documents, photographs, notes, and correspondence — must:
- Be accurate and not designed to mislead;
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations;
- Not contain any material that is defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, offensive, or racially or ethnically discriminatory;
- Not violate any applicable contract, confidentiality obligation, or professional duty to which you are subject;
- Be uploaded only if you have the right to do so (e.g. you own it, have a licence to it, or have the data subject's consent where it contains personal data).
4. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of a violation of this AUP by another user, or if you discover a security vulnerability in the Services, please report it to:

We operate a responsible disclosure programme. If you report a security vulnerability in good faith and in compliance with our disclosure guidelines, we will not take legal action against you. Please do not publicly disclose any vulnerability before we have had a reasonable opportunity to investigate and remediate.
5. Enforcement
MeasureDeck monitors the Services for compliance with this AUP and our Terms of Service. Upon becoming aware of a suspected violation, we may:
- Issue a warning to the relevant user or workspace Owner;
- Remove or disable access to content that violates this AUP;
- Suspend access to the Services for the relevant user or the entire workspace;
- Permanently terminate the relevant account(s);
- Report violations to law enforcement authorities where legally required or appropriate;
- Take legal action including seeking injunctive relief or damages.
The action taken will depend on the nature and severity of the violation. We will give notice of enforcement action where practicable unless doing so would compromise a security investigation or breach a legal obligation.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or by notice within the Services. Continued use of the Services following notification of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
